Cookie Policy
This policy describes browser storage and similar technologies that may be used on the WEQMU website, including the one preference key intentionally created by the supplied theme code.
Purpose and scope
This Cookie Policy applies to the WEQMU CORP website and explains how cookies, local storage, pixels, software development kits, and related technologies may interact with a visitor’s browser or device. It should be read with the Privacy Policy.
The policy distinguishes between technologies included in the supplied WEQMU Custom Liquid package and technologies that Shopify, the active theme, or an app may add independently. The store owner should review the final production site and update this policy before enabling analytics, advertising, embedded media, live chat, personalization, or another application that changes data collection.
What these technologies are
A cookie is a small text record that a website or service may ask a browser to store. A first-party cookie is set in connection with the site being visited. A third-party cookie may be set by another service whose content or code is included on the site.
Local storage is a browser feature that can store a preference on a device without using a traditional cookie. Pixels and similar tags can record that content loaded or an action occurred. Server logs can record requests even when browser storage is disabled.
Some technologies are temporary and expire when a browser session ends. Others remain until an expiration date, manual deletion, or replacement. Storage duration does not necessarily equal business-record retention because a server-side record may be retained under the Privacy Policy.
Current WEQMU implementation
The supplied website code intentionally creates one local-storage preference named “weqmu-theme.” It records whether the visitor selected the light or dark visual theme. The value is “light” or “dark.” The preference is read when the page loads so the selected appearance can be restored.

This preference is not used to identify a person, measure advertising, follow activity across unrelated services, or send information to WEQMU. It remains in the visitor’s browser. The supplied project form also does not transmit or store entries.
Strictly necessary technologies
Shopify, the hosting layer, network security tools, or the active theme may use technologies needed to deliver pages, balance traffic, prevent abuse, protect sessions, store privacy choices, provide accessibility functions, or maintain platform integrity. These functions may be required even when optional analytics or advertising is refused.
Where a technology is strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by the visitor, consent may not be required under some laws. It should still be described accurately, limited to its necessary purpose, and protected appropriately.
Preference technologies
Preference technologies remember a choice such as language, region, display mode, dismissed notice, or accessibility setting. The WEQMU theme preference falls into this category. It improves continuity but the website can still be viewed if it is removed; the appearance may simply return to the device or site default.
If new preference features are added, the store owner should record their names, purposes, providers, and durations in this policy or the active consent interface.
Analytics and performance
No analytics platform is included in the supplied Custom Liquid sections. If Shopify analytics, an app, or a separate measurement tool is activated, it may process page views, device and browser details, referring information, approximate location, interaction events, campaign parameters, or error information.
Where required, non-essential analytics should remain disabled until a valid choice is received. Analytics settings should use the least detailed information reasonably needed, avoid unnecessary retention, and respect applicable opt-out rights. Aggregated reporting should not be described as anonymous unless re-identification is not reasonably possible.
Advertising and cross-site tracking
No advertising pixel, remarketing tag, targeted-advertising script, or cross-context behavioral advertising tool is included in the supplied code. WEQMU CORP does not knowingly use the supplied sections to sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
If advertising technology is added later, the site should provide the notices and controls required by applicable law before the technology activates. This may include an opt-in consent banner, a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” mechanism, recognition of an opt-out preference signal, and a current list of providers.
Third-party content and applications
An embedded video, map, scheduling widget, chat tool, social feed, font service, payment service, or other external feature may allow its provider to receive technical information and use storage. The supplied site intentionally contains no map, telephone, email, or social-media links and no embedded third-party media. Google Fonts is requested for the three specified type families and may receive ordinary network-request information when those font files are loaded.
Shopify apps are controlled separately from this code. Installing an app can materially change cookie behavior. Review an app’s data practices, remove unused apps, and update consent settings and this policy whenever an app is installed or reconfigured.
Consent and withdrawal
Where consent is legally required, a visitor should receive clear information and a genuine choice before optional technologies activate. Refusing an optional category should be as easy as accepting it. Pre-selected optional choices should not be used where prohibited.
A visitor who previously consented should be able to revisit or withdraw the choice. Withdrawal applies prospectively and does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful. A necessary record of the privacy choice may be retained so the preference can be honored.
The supplied WEQMU package does not include a cookie banner because it does not add optional analytics or advertising. If the completed Shopify configuration does add those tools, use Shopify’s compatible privacy controls or another properly configured consent mechanism before launch.
Browser and device controls
Most browsers allow a person to inspect, block, or delete cookies and site storage. Controls differ by product and version. Removing the “weqmu-theme” local-storage key resets the theme preference. Blocking necessary storage may interfere with platform security, saved settings, or other requested functions.
Private browsing can limit persistence but does not necessarily prevent network requests or server logs. Clearing one browser does not clear another browser or device. Advertising identifiers and mobile-app tracking permissions, if ever applicable, must be managed through the relevant device or account settings.
Do Not Track and opt-out signals
Some browsers send “Do Not Track,” Global Privacy Control, or similar signals. Because the supplied site code contains no advertising, sale, or cross-context behavioral tracking, it does not currently perform an additional action in response to those signals.
If qualifying tracking is introduced, the signal-handling position should be reassessed and a legally required universal opt-out signal should be honored. A statement that a signal is honored should not be published until the production configuration has been technically tested.
Duration, updates, and contact
Storage durations may be fixed by a provider or continue until deletion. The theme preference has no programmed expiration and remains until the browser clears it or a user changes the theme. Platform and app durations should be confirmed against the live configuration.
This policy may change when site features, vendors, or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Questions about storage or privacy choices may be directed to the contact details below without including passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
